Easter is a magical time in the Peak District; spring is in the air, the buds are in bloom, it’s lambing season, and with the rise in temperatures and longer daylight hours, it’s a wonderful time to visit.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND DAYS OUT
Walks and bike rides are obviously top things to do in the Peak District, but there are also animal parks, canoeing, abseiling, wild swimming, cable cars, old trams, caverns… and lots LOTS more.

The best buggy and pram friendly walks in the Peak District, with even footpaths and avoiding stiles. These are mostly circular routes, and all have been pram-tested.
Walking with a toddler involves a bucket load of patience from the parents, but if you start them hiking young, they will be hiking up Kinder Scout before your know it! These walks are all less than 3km, relatively flat, and offer lots of variety.
Thanks to old railway tracks criss-crossing the National Park that have been transformed into gravel paths, there are a some fantastic traffic-free trails. Plus, there are also some lovely routes around reservoirs.

The majority of pubs and cafes in the Peak District are welcoming to families, and many have separate kids’ menus. But when there’s a kids play area? Well parents, it’s time to order in another drink.

Jenny Lynn is the founder and editor of Peak District Kids. When Jenny first started bringing her boys to the Peak District on holidays, soon after they were born, she realised that there was very little information online for families who wanted to explore the National Park (she may have attempted a crossing of Dovedale Stepping Stones with a buggy). But in 2020, shortly after moving the family to Bakewell in 2018, a place they now call home, Jenny launched Peak District Kids. The website quickly became the go-to online resource for families exploring the National Park with up to 250k page views every month, running alongside a wonderfully warm and welcoming FB group of over 28k members.
Along with her husband, Jason, Jenny is a full-time travel blogger and content creator and runs four different travel websites. When not hiking in the Peak District, Jenny and her family can be found in a far-flung destination with their backpacks.
